A demonstration of what a band of Bretheren can accomplish When they mix Music, Philanthropy, and Heritage
We consider that our mission is:
The advancement of the precepts, objectives and charities of the Ancient Arabic order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, especially as they relate to the activities of the Zor Shrine.
Promote good citizenship, and good fellowship among the membership.
Foster interest in the understanding and appreciation of Scottish Music and perpetuate competent piping and drumming of traditional Scottish music.
The Zor Pipes & Drums have marched a long way from its formation in 1966. Many miles and performances later, the Pipes and Drums are celebrating its 40th year as a marching unit. A fixture at many South Central Wisconsin parades, community festivals, and other special events, the band s motto could be :
Have Kilts - Will Travel
At the heart of every performance is the music, which moves and inspires all that hear the skirl of the pipes. From traditional tunes such as Scotland the Brave and Amazing Grace to new favorites likeThe Marine Hymn, God Bless America, and Highland Cathedral.
The music enriches our leisure and brings smiles to everyone who listens. Most of all the music and sound are regional, rhythmic and rousing !
Please visit Our Music webpage for more details on our tones, ournotes, and a few tricks for new Drumers and Bagpipers.
Why participate? For recognition, inspiration, and a resource we can all refer to when making the case for Philanthropy-based activities.
While audiences experience the music that stirred the blood and fired the passions of the Scottish soldier and soothed the worries and the anxious weeping spouses and families that were left at home, the band makes the audience come alive to think and feel as their ancestors thought and felt.
As performing volunteers Burns hospitals ,Children Hospitals, and Orthopidic Hospitals are the main beneficiaries. Throughout all of the efforts to learn and perform, an overriding mission of volunteering to help children, and simultaneously have fun, lead to a satisfying and enriching fellowship. So far, it has been a great indulging pleasure for every member and administrator for the band.
We are looking for pipers and drumers currently. Great Highland Bagpipes are widely known world wide. The Zor Pipes and Drums has many members who have filled the boots of the Pipe-major and Drums-major before, or have the capability to do so. That means that we can teach you how to play drums and bagpipes. The only real requirement we have is that you prove that you are taking your practice and our Mission seriously.
Uniforms and practice space are graciously donated by Zor Shrine Potentate office
May the Great Architect of the Universe have his blessings upon you
